My new LP, “Hip Pocket” will be released December 27, 2022. This album evolved from Joe Gilder’s Home Studio Corner VIPer Challenge for 2022 to create an EP. Most of the songs were written between January and June 2022. It was self-produced and mastered by Ben Holmes (www.drumsandmastering.com).

The production idea was to simplify the songs by keeping the parts limited to what a live band might play. The inspiration for the idea came to me listening to the re-release or The Tragically Hip’s “Road Apples” LP. As I listened, I was struck that the band recorded the album almost exactly as they played it on stage. I will say, I was (more or less) successful with the approach. On some of the songs I nailed it. Others, well, the added instrumentation seemed to work!
